Newborn Sessions
In-Home
My in-home sessions take the hassle of travel away and allows you to stay in your own environment. This is perfect if you have other children or recovering from a c-section. I will travel to your home, set up and photograph all in the comfort of your own home. If you are wanting baby posed on the beanbag this will require a space for this to be set up. A good natural light source such as a large window is also preferable.
Studio
If you need to get out of the house or don't have the space at your home my studio sessions take place in my home and reduces the session time as I will be set up and ready for you on arrival. These sessions are perfect to allow full range of photo options using the posing bag and backdrops for family photos. There is a comfy sofa and light refreshments for you so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the experience.
FAQ
When should my newborn be photographed?
Ideally your newborn should be photographed from around day 5-14 while they're still at their sleepiest to get the best out of your session. After this point they start to become more alert, stretch out and can develop short term skin conditions such as baby’ acne’ and peeling. This isn't to say that babies can't be photographed older than two weeks however, the older they become the more different the result.
What if my baby is early or late?
I will always be very flexible when it comes to a Newborn session. We will keep in touch after you make your booking and adjust as needed. Please note however if you delay beyond 14 days following birth some poses may not be possible.
Can siblings and parents be photographed?
Absolutely! Some one of my favorite aspects to a newborn session is capturing the bond and love between siblings. Family members can be as involved as they like and it provides that all important updated family portrait.
What happens if my baby won't settle?
We can't predict how baby will be during a session. I always allow up to three hours for a newborn shoot to allow for any unsettled periods. If the worst should happen and we can't capture everything we can schedule another meeting so please don't worry. We will get your images.
When should I book a newborn session?
In order to make sure you secure a booking for your Newborn Session, it’s important to reserve your date while you’re pregnant. This way you can be guaranteed a session with your chosen photographer. A holding deposit of just £25 is required to secure your booking.
How long does a newborn session last?
I always take time with my newborns, and let them be my guide. Newborn sessions can typically take around 2 hours, depending on how settled baby is. Please don't worry if baby becomes unsettled as I account some time for this. To help the session go smoothly it's best to start when baby has just had a feed and is ready for a nice sleep.
Do you use different sets and props?
No. My newborn photography is kept minimal so that your eye is draw to the most important subject, your precious baby. I use several different colours which will be decided upon during the pre-shoot consultation. I am however happy
for you to use any props or heirloom blankets. They make the most beautiful classic photographs that create a true memory for the makers and family. Older generations treasure these especially, as they combine a heritage item and your precious newborn.
Can I choose the style of photo I want?
Of course! I will chat to you prior to our session about the style you prefer and work with you to create images that you'll love. These can be as relaxed and natural as you'd like. If you'd prefer your baby to not be wrapped or posed we can photograph baby in your arms or lying comfortably on your bed. It is worth considering however that most babies prefer to be wrapped as this helps them feel secure and prevents the startle reflex from waking them. If you would prefer your baby not to be wrapped the session may just take a bit of extra time.

Sitter
Sitter Session
A six-month sitter session captures this wonderful milestone and documents your little ones growth.
This session aims to celebrate your babies development as they are now able to sit unaided and allows their little personality to shine through.
This age provides opportunities for more interactive and engaging images. It is such a fleeting period in your child's life and you won't regret capturing your little one at this golden stage.

These spoons make a great prop to capture your little one licking the cake spoon and is yours to take home after your session

How many pictures will we receive?
Your session includes 10 digital images however, you can upgrade to purchase additional images
What’s the best time to have the session?
This depends on your baby's routine and when you feel baby is most happy and playful. The happier baby is the better
How should I dress my baby?
This is entirely up to you. The dress should match with your theme and style you are going for. Rompers work well and you can find some great outfits through sites like Etsy.
Do you privide a cake
I don't currently provide a cake. This allows you to use your own supplier or make your own to keep costs low for you. I am very happy to receive delivery of your cake so you don't have to worry about transporting it. If you would like some recommendations of local cake makers please ask and I'll be happy to help.
